Myron "Smitty" Smith Community Pet Food Program

A bag of pet food is being poured into a pet bowlAt the Humane Society of Fremont County, we understand that financial challenges can arise, making it difficult to provide for your beloved pets. To help ensure that every pet has access to essential nutrition, we offer free pet food on an emergency and supplemental basis until you are able to get back on your feet.

To ensure that our resources are being used to assist those who truly need them, we have implemented specific policies and procedures for our Community Food Program. All participants in the program are required to show proof of vaccinations for each animal in their home and proof of residency in Fremont or Custer County.

In addition, while enrolled in the Community Food Program, participants will be unable to acquire any new animals for their household. This helps us ensure that our resources are going towards supporting the pets that are already in the program.

Six Month Program

The Community Food Program is a six-month program, allowing participants to receive free dog or cat food for a limited time. After the initial six months, participants will need to seek management approval to continue receiving assistance.

To ensure that our resources are distributed efficiently, dog or cat food will be given per the program guidelines and can only be picked up by the person on file unless prior arrangements are made. Additionally, pick-ups for dog and cat food are limited to Tuesdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and Thursdays from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm.

We understand that implementing these policies may seem restrictive, but they are necessary to ensure that we can continue to support our community in the most effective way possible. We appreciate your understanding and are committed to providing essential support to pets in need in our community.
